UNIC Bujumbura organized a ceremony to launch free internet service for its clients in the library. The ceremony was presided over by the chief Adviser in the Ministry of Communication, Ms. Concessa Bacanamwo, and the UNIC Acting Director, Mr. Antonius Broek. The ceremony included speeches by the two personalities and the cutting of the symbolic ribbon to inaugurate the UNIC new product. In both speeches the UNIC was highly congratulated for the initiative in a country where ICT is under-developed and very few people have access to the internet. After the inaugural ceremonies, the UNIC proceeded with the projection of the UN websites for the huge assembly attending the activity. A hundred persons, including representatives of the National Assembly, the Senate, the Government , the civil society, national and international NGOs, UNCT, journalists, local universities community and the general public participated to the ceremony.
