UNIC Bujumbura in conjunction with the UNCT seized the opportunity of the Confederation of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Under-20 Championship - which took place in Bujumbura from 09 to 23 September 2006 - to commemorate together with CECAFA the International Day of Peace on the theme, "Sport for peace in the sub-region of East and Central Africa." The above Day was celebrated on 23 September, day of the final game of the CECAFA in presence of the President of the Republic. The Secretary-General's message was screened at the "Prince Louis Rwagasore" stadium where the final match took place.
