UNIC Bujumbura participated inthe World Campaign Against Poverty and stand up event. In commemoration of the International Day of Elimination of Poverty and global campaign against poverty and for the MDGs, UNIC Bujumbura organized on 15 October 2006 - in partnership with UNDP and ONUB - the stand up event during a concert by a South African Band. Mr. Athanase Rwamo, the winner of the 1999 UN Fight against Poverty Award, presented the message against poverty. Around 500 people including the members of the Government, the Diplomatic corps representatives and the general public attended the event.
